based on the label on HT’s envelope, sometimes with additional information about the location and features in the image.
Plate Identification Number:
The number found on HT’s envelopes (also sometimes marked lightly in the corner of the plate). Very few envelopes were missing numbers. An “a” or “b” after the number indicates that either two plates were in the same envelope (we added the a and b) or HT labeled two plates as a and b.
Dimensions of the plate:
Any images that appear cropped were manually cropped by HT with tape or paper. We did not digitally crop out any damage etc unless noted.
