The Royal Chapel on Church Street, Monterey (2103, 8”x10”)

The Royal Chapel at Monterey has been in continuous use since 1794. The master mason Manuel Ruiz arrived in 1791 to build the stone church. Mexican and Indian craftsmen carved ornate decorations such as the Virgin of Guadalupe carved in chalk rock on top of the façade.
